After shocking the automotive world with our lineup of handsome, affordable, and technologically advanced sedans and now we’re doing it again. No doubt you saw the Super Bowl commercial featuring the GV80 and John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. Coming summer of 2020, the 2021 Genesis GV80 will be the first SUV offered by Genesis and it is going to redefine young luxury. Full details are still not available, but here is what you can expect from the 2021 Genesis GV80.
While the 2021 GV80 is still very recognizable as a Genesis, the design moves away from the current styling features. The biggest change is in the grille and lighting design, the refined crest grille is now flanked by the horizontally dynamic dual headlights. The taillights mimic the dual lense approach and it is expected they will both feature LED lighting. 22-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof appear to be likely exterior upgrades. Inside the GV80, the future awaits with its 14.5-inch split-screen display, handwriting NAV interface, knob-style shifter, and a 2-spoke steering wheel. Quilted leather seats and heated/ventilated seats (front and back) are expected to be some of the standard upgrades.
Luxurious performance is at the heart of every Genesis vehicle and that doesn’t change with the 2021 GV80. Two distinct engines will be offered under the hood, both of them brand-new to the Genesis lineup. The first is a turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that is expected to produce 300hp. The optional upgrade is a 3.5L Twin-Turbocharged V6 engine that is expected to produce more than 370hp. Both engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. While the fuel economy numbers are not yet published, we expect the 2021 Genesis GV80 to get in the 23-27mpg range on the highway.
The technology that is expected to be available on the 2021 Genesis GV80 is nothing short of impressive. Remote Smart Park Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Driver Attention Warnings are all expected to be available on the GV80. There are even reports than the GV80 will feature Smart Cruise Control with Machine Learning. SCC-ML is a technology that learns driving patterns to create a custom experience for the driver. The Genesis GV80 2021 will learn to drive and react in a way that reflects your actions as the driver. The capable, handsome, and technologically advanced Genesis GV80 is ready to take on the established luxury SUVs.
